Important: You can only connect Subscribe, and Subscribe to Unlock Coupon popups to email marketing services.
To connect a popup/variant to an external email marketing service, open it in the Popup editor and switch to the Settings panel.
There, you should find a field named Send collected emails to. Click Configure and a modal should slide down the page.
You’ll see you have two options when it comes to collecting emails: 1) Storing them inside holdonstranger; and 2) Forwarding them into an external email marketing service. Select the second option.
A new field should open with a few email marketing services to choose from. Select MailChimp.
After you’ve select MailChimp from the email marketing service’s list, the field Enter your API Key below should show up.
holdonstranger lets you connect to MailChimp in two ways: with OAuth or with an API Key. We recommend connecting with OAuth, since it’s, for sure, the easiest way.
Below the field Enter your API Key below there’s a Connect using OAuth link. Click it.
A Connect button should have shown up. Click it and you’ll be redirected to a MailChimp page, asking for your credentials in order to link holdonstranger to your MailChimp account. After entering them, click Log In.
If all goes well, that page should close automatically, and you should be back inside holdonstranger and able to see your Constant Contact’s lists. Select a list and click Save & Close. That’s it.
if you choose to connect using the API key, you’ll have to get an API Key from MailChimp. Here’s how:
1) Log into your MailChimp account.
2) Click on your Profile name at the top-right corner of your account’s admin page to open the drop-down menu, and then click Account.
3) On the Account page, open the Extras dropdown menu and click API keys.
4) Now, you can either use an existing API Key or create a new one just for holdonstranger by clicking on Create A Key. Do as you wish.
That’s it.
Now copy that API Key, go back to holdonstranger, and paste it into the Enter your API Key below field. The Connect button should turn green. Click it.
If all goes well, you should now be able to see your MailChimp’s lists. Select a list and click Save & Close. That’s it.
